Props
this issue goes to a duo, Robert and Stacy Ritchey. For all of
their loving effort in the creation of Revolution Park MX , a
training and racing facility built on 87 acres in Union, South
Carolina. They have been building a loyal following ever since
they opened on April 14, 2007. “This track has been a dream
of mine ever since my daughter started riding.” Says Robert.
Four years ago Rrobert started putting his dream on paper in the
form of a business plan. The original plan called for 790 acres
and a network of trails circulating around several styles of tracks.
While this sounded great the reality of such an undertaking was
a little overwhelming so they decided to focus on tracks only.
Currently they have opened one of the three tracks
they have planned for the facility, all designed and built by
Lonnie Taylor, a 1.2 mile outdoor national style MX track filled
with various kinds of soil from soft loam to sand. The layout
of this track is fast MX with long straight sections, a sand whoop
section, a few doubles, step up jumps, off camber turns, and uphill/
downhill sections following the natural terrain. The track also
has several big jumps all built with safety in mind. This is not
a technical track, it’s about speed, the technical tracks
are coming. They have a full scale Supercross and Arenacross track
in the planning stages. In addition to the technical tracks is
the building of RV pads with water and power connections. Currently
they are set up for primitive camping.
“We are trying to build a series of tracks
that riders will want to call home. Ones that will give them experience
riding on a variety of dirt.”
