The XChallenge uses a 21-inch front wheel combined
with an 18-inch rear, both built utilizing stainless spokes
with aluminum rims and hubs. The stock tires worked extremely
well on the road giving heaps of confidence when cornering and
breaking but they didn’t provide that same assurance in
looser conditions. We opted for something a little more aggressive
during the off road portions of our test. With a call to Pirelli
we had a set of MT-18’s front and rear, a welcome change.
The XChallenge liked to be ridden hard off road, the faster
we rode and the more out of control we got the more stable it
felt. The bike feels rock solid and provides excellent feedback.
A 300mm wave disc teams with a double-piston floating caliper
to take care of braking duties up front, while a 240mm rotor
(also waved) takes care of duties in the rear.
So what do we think? We love it! The XChallenge
will bring hours of joy to your life. Whether you are riding
to the local Starbucks to meet a friend for a cup of coffee
or riding the trails at Gorman this bike is a blast to ride.
And the greatest thing is you can do both on the same ride!
