Jake
Gilbertson #206
Jake
Gilbertson, age 13 D.O.B. 9-17-93 started riding at 8 yrs old
on a TTR-90, his dad got him into it, he has been racing since
he was 9. At 13, thanks to Team Trick Tank, he has the world
at his feet with the backing to make a huge splash in the Arenacross
world. Access to a world class training facility, quality coaching
and great teammates should make it all possible. His favorite
obstacle is whoop sections although he doesn't think he's the
best at riding them. His least favorite obstacle is rhythm sections,
says "he has terrible timing and it's about the only place
he gets hurt." His favorite bike up to this point is his
CRF150R. He prefers to ride indoor style tracks, more technical
tracks and really doesn't enjoy outdoor rough style tracks.
His favorite track layout is the Louisville Arenacross. When
he's not riding he likes to bowl, a cousin of his is a pro bowler.
What is his best score? A 190, Jake is very competitive at any
game he gets into.
This
season he will contest the super mini and 85cc 12-15 classes,
next season will have him moving up to the schoolboy class.
His racing this season has been hampered by a last-lap accident
at the Charlotte Arenacross which resulted in a double separation
of his right elbow. This injury made it impossible for him to
race at Loretta's as he was unable to compete in any of the
area qualifiers. He has however, qualified for the Amateur Arenacross
World Finals in Las Vegas October 12-14, 2007 and is in the
process of preparing for the event.
Last
year in the East Amateur Arenacross series 85cc 7-11 class he
placed 2nd. In the 85cc Super Mini class he placed 4th. Currently
he ranks 4th in the 85 12-15 and 5th in Super Mini. We look
forward to many good things from this young lad. Keep an eye
on him, he'll be making bigger waves with each passing season.
