NEXT PAGE----.------------------Jardine RT-5 Pipe Review---------------------------NEXT PAGE

We recently received two beautiful Jardine SUPER X RT5 Exhaust systems, one with a complete Titanium head pipe and muffler and the other with a steel head pipe and Aluminum muffler to fit the HONDA CRF450R. Both designed to fit model years 2006 to 2008. The muffler on both pipes is a welcome replacement to the stock beast that hangs off the subframe. Finish on these pipes is top notch, from beautiful welds to the easily removed, cone shaped screen, spark arrestor.

The carbon fiber tip adds a nice piece of bling as well. Unfortunately when installed nearly all of the pipe is covered by the side cover so the only way you can tell it’s not stock is by the lack of the pipe guard that sits on stock unit just after the bend by the cylinder. However, once the bike is started and revving, you know the stock unit is not installed. We didn’t run a sound check but even an untrained ear would be able to tell you these pipes are more throaty than stock, not much, but just enough to be heard.

In the sales material Jardine says “The Jardine Moto-X full systems are designed to give a power increase over the entire RPM band from idle to redline”. We decided to put that to the test. A trip to the Dyno was in order. We headed down to Carolina Harley with our 07 450 Honda that has 60 hours on it for some comparison runs.

As a base we ran our first test with the stock pipe and much to our surprise, gave a peak output of 45.19. Not bad considering Honda says the 450 produces 45 to 47 hp at the rear wheel, 55 at the crank. The jetting on our test bike was stock and the air/fuel measurement showed the stock jetting to be a little rich from the factory. Both Jardine pipes got the jetting to be the correct level.
