Next
we bolted on the Jardine steel head pipe and aluminum muffler.
After four runs, our best netted 47.33 hp. With power increasing
across the entire power range and the biggest hit from the end
of the middle to the rev limiter, nearly 2 hp over stock. After
four runs with the Titanium we showed a peak hp output of 47.49
and pretty much the same power curve. While a 4 ½ percent
increase might not seem like a lot, on the track it should translate
to better pull on long straights and the ability to wait longer
between shifts.
At
the track it was as we suspected, the pipe felt much better than stock
from the first snap off the idle, until full stop of the throttle
tube. We felt like we could ride the bike a gear higher (3rd in
turns instead of 2nd) and roll on the throttle, it was the extra
power that allowed this to do this. Being in a higher gear, our
test bike tracked better through the turns, especially fast sweepers.
The price for all this is the exhaust note. It was perceptibly
different from stock in the pilot's seat, but by the end of our
first practice we had already become accustomed to it. In the
end it's a great pipe that you will be glad you bought.
