| It’s
September 29, 2007 about 7:00 pm. I’m sitting in my trailer
still sweating from the last of four motos thinking… this
is it? It is all over for 2007? I’m at TV (Trevor Vines)
Land in Pierpont, Ohio, a 52 acre heaven for moto lovers of every
level, for the final round of the Summer Pitbike Series. Ten rounds
of racing at three different tracks in two different states. Eight
rounds were held at Freestyle Motocross Legend Trevor Vines’
compound while two races made their way to Pennsylvania. Round
two was held at P.J.’s Playground in Erie, PA and the fourth
round was held at Street Track and Trail in Conneaut Lake, PA.
2007 marked the fourth year of the TV Land Summer Pitbike Series.
It keeps getting better every year and it has evolved from a group
of buddies having a little backyard fun into one of most talked
about events on the east coast. The Vines Family always puts in
an incredible effort to be sure that everything runs like a Swiss
watch. Trevor and his Dad Lucky handle the track prep. While the
girls of the family, Apryl (Trevor’s Wife), Connie (his
Mom) and Steph (his Sister) take care of signup, scoring and trophies.
I can’t say enough about the hard work they all put in for
us at each race.
This year had a class for everyone. Some were very popular and
had full gates while others didn’t attract much interest.
I imagine some classes will be dropped for 2008.
The Mini Class, also known as 50 Production, started out with
a pretty light turnout. Tim Ward won the championship as he was
the only one to compete in the required seven rounds in the series.
Unofficially, Dale Reese took second and I took third.
Mini
Open was a different story. This is a 10” unlimited class
and usually fills the gate. Joe Hockenberry took the overall on
his Adam’s Performance Pitster Pro. Series veteran Shawn
Brink finished in second a mere four points behind.
