The first thing we notice about the new Moto 8 is how light it feels. The med/lg version tips the scale at just under 3 lbs. or 1350 grams which should amount to less fatigue at the end of the day. When you put it on your head the fit is comfortable with no strange contact points, field of vision is good. The chin bar is a bit closer than most other helmets which makes goggle fit a minor issue. This is exacerbated by the permanently attached nose protector. Careful goggle selection is required to get a set that fits properly.

Attention to detail on the Moto 8 is top notch, from the quick flip visor screws, no need to have a screwdriver to adjust your visor, to the venting in the chin bar. Two forward chin bar vents capture airflow off the front of the face guard and channel it through ducts in the chin bar EPS to the cheek pads. Perforations in the back of the cheek pads allows for the airflow to help with drying. Air is then evacuated through the exit ports at the lower rear of the helmet. It’s a nice feature, sweaty cheek pads suck and these stay dryer than most.

Bell uses a single cloth tri-weave of carbon fiber, Kevlar® and fiberglass to create the durable but light weight shell of the Moto-8. Air enters the Bell Moto-8's Velocity Flow Ventilation system through 11 intake ports. The location of these ports was determined using a combination of computer simulation, wind-tunnel testing, and rider trials. Their final locations represent optimal positioning for maximum air entry and exit.

The visor mounts using an offset pivot configuration, side-only attachment points provide both adjustability and full stability. The absence of the center attachment point allows you to make quick height adjustments without having to deal with the 3rd mounting screw.

Channeling in the comfort liner in conjunction with channels in the EPS layer help direct air throughout the helmet to keep the rider dry. By using a combination of soft memory foam covered with Dri-Lex lammy suede and Drytime fabric, the liner provides a very comfortable fit and a high level of dryness. The liner is easily removed and re-installed for simple cleaning.
