Along the road we see and test piles of products, some of them stand out and some of them don’t make much of an impression. For our Cross Country bike test in California, TCX, formerly known as Oxtar set us up with some of their Pro 2 Boots for the photography portion of the story. As it turns out, the TCX Pro2’s are one of the products that stand out, in a good way… big time. So much so, we decided to review them and tell you just how much we like them. In our experience, most MX boots have a break-in period and require several rides to get ‘comfortable”. Not only this, but once they break in they continue to break in and eventually lose their rigidity and the ability to provide support and protection. The Pro2 boot is designed to give you freedom of movement right from the start that doesn’t rely on the flexing of plastic or leather. The patented Torsion Control System of the Pro 2 boot allows free movement of your ankle from the first moment you slide your foot into it. The TCS system is made up of 3 rigid elements inserted into one another by means of lugs sliding in special pockets, the system is based on 4 lateral flexure points (positioned around the ankle bones) allowing controlled bending movement of the ankle joint, and one internal flexure point (positioned at the low part of the heel plate). The special systems design allows normal bending movement of the foot without the annoying deformation of materials used typically for traditional boots. In addition, the Pro2 has a removable liner/bootie with gel inserts at the ankle bone for added comfort. We love these boots and we’re pretty sure you will too. If you are in the market for a new set, check the Pro2’s for TCX. You will be glad you did.
