MONSTER ENERGY KAWASAKI’S Nathan Woods earns another podium in Hollister

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Nathan Woods put in a strong ride through tough conditions to earn second during the 10th round of the WORCS series at Hollister Hills MX Park in Hollister, Calif. Carter Powersports (Las Vegas, Nev.) dealer-assist rider Scott Simon rode for his first podium of the season, making it a double podium for Kawasaki.

Riders were met with extremely dusty conditions when the race began, putting extra emphasis for riders to get good starts. Going into the first off-road section, Woods was in sixth and immediately made his way up to third place at the conclusion of lap one. He was putting in consistent laps but with the dust and lappers being an issue, he crossed the finish in second aboard his Kawasaki KXâ„¢450F.

“I knew I needed to get a start because the conditions were going to be bad,” said Woods. “I was really close to getting the holeshot. I rode as hard as I could safely. There wasn’t much I could have done differently.”

He added, “I’m looking forward to the next race at Pismo Beach. I have won the race three years in a row and right now there is no other option if I want to win the championship. I’m going in with high expectations.”

Putting in his best ride of the season was Kawasaki’s dealer-assist rider Simon, who rode to an impressive third-place finish.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott had a rough start after a rider took him out within the first mile of the course. After pulling his bike out of the pile-up, he put in solid lap times, but a sore elbow from hitting a tree became a factor. He eventually finished the race in 15th.

Following a decent start, teammate Ricky Dietrich pulled off after the first lap, expressing concerns of safety on the track in the dusty conditions.

“I didn’t feel like the conditions were safe enough with it being so dusty,” said Dietrich. “I knew people were going down and I basically decided to get out of the way.”

In the Pro 2 class, Carter Powersports dealer assist rider Taylor Robert put in a notable ride aboard his Kawasaki KX™250F, taking the class win. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green rider Ryan Abbatoye rounded out the podium, while teammate and class points’ leader Jamie Lanza finished in fifth.

“The course was not as good as I hoped it would be,” said Abbatoye. “It was really hard to pass in the conditions, so pretty much where you started was close to where you finished.”

The Monster Energy Kawasaki team will be in Pismo Beach, Calif., on October 19, for round 11 of the WORCS series.
