----.--------RIDING TECHNIQUE - Creek Crossing-------------------

 

 

 

 

For this issue of the EDM's technique article we are going to take a look at a typical woods/enduro obstacle - a small creek or mud bog type crossing. Since its been raining cats and dogs in the Carolinas recently it didn't take us long to find one of these challenges on our local trail system. The worst thing you can do in this case is roll-up slowly through the mud and try to accelerate to get up the hill, you want to keep the bike moving to get through as quickly and effortlessly as possible. If you are the first to go through the section, make sure to do this the incorrect way and stop in the middle and roost the heck out of your buddies waiting.

 

 

 

As you can see from the overview shot, the obstacle has a small drop off on the right side of the bank. We are going to loft the front wheel into the air before this and carry it across the water into the bank (see our wheelie technique for wheelie help).
