Doug Henry is back in action…
Additional information:

Doug Henry was a three-time AMA Motocross national champion in the 1990’s, broke his back in 1995 on impact at Budd’s Creek, which appeared to be a career ending crash, and triumphantly and miraculously came back just two years later to win three rounds of the AMA Supercross Series riding for Yamaha. At the final round in Las Vegas, NV, this incredible victory was sweetened by the fact that it was the first time a four-stroke motorcycle won an AMA Supercross event. Doug soon became an inspiration to all that followed the sport and quickly became a fan favorite with his inspirational, “never give up” attitude. “Doug Henry was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2005. In 2007, while racing at the New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, Doug crashed and broke his back again causing paralysis. After surgery and months of extensive rehabilitation, Doug remains down, but certainly not out. He continues to inspire his family, Stacey, Brianna, and Ian, and many friends who watch him zooming around on crutches and leg braces. Many wear his bracelet with the inscription, “Doug Henry, What’s Stopping You.”

Chapter Three of Doug Henry’s life, may not be what he expected, but is it ever exactly how we plan? The sparkle is back in his eyes and his heart is back in the sport that he loves so much. No, he’s not racing; although I wouldn’t rule it out for good. Instead, Doug and his wife Stacey are sponsoring the Doug Henry’s New England Supermoto Grand Prix at the Stafford Motor Speedway, on August 9th, 2008. I’m sure that fans will be lining up to see Doug back in action. A leap of faith into unfamiliar territory, but yet another example of Doug Henry’s way of life: daring, fearless, and full speed ahead.
