EnduroCross Coming Down to the Wire in Vegas

With the Final event only a couple weeks away, the AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship Series presented by Lucas Oil, is coming down to the wire! With championship contenders, international stars and legendary racers all looking to line-up in Las Vegas for a shot at the insane track and a chance to win one of the most technically difficult races in the world, the November 22 event in the Orleans Arena will be “the stuff that legends are made of!”

Team Monster Energy Kawasaki ’s, Ricky Dietrich, is leading the championship by 10 points over his veteran teammate, Damon Huffman. Dietrich, who just a couple weeks ago was leading the WORCS championship only to see it slip away at the last event, is extremely committed to hanging on to this championship and capping off an incredible year for the youthful Kawasaki rider. Meanwhile, Huffman, who finished second in the championship last season is focused and very determined to be the 2008 AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Champion. Either way it plays out Team Monster Energy Kawasaki is looking at their first AMA EnduroCross championship… but nothing is guaranteed in racing and especially in EnduroCross!

“We are very determined to bring this championship home for Kawasaki ,” says Dietrich, the youngest member of Monster Energy Kawasaki. “It’s been a really great year so far and nothing would top it off better than an EnduroCross championship!”

Two very important factors will certainly come into play in Las Vegas and could play “the spoiler” to Dietrich and Huffman… the incredibly technical track… and a tremendously stacked field! The Las Vegas round is known to have one of the most technical and challenging courses of the year that will certainly keep the championship up in the air until the checkered flag waves! In addition, with all the other major off-road series’ wrapped-up for the year, the already unbelievably talented field is looking to get even deeper. With Red Bull KTM’s, Taddy Blasuziak back and coming off a win, he mathematically has a shot at the championship if somehow Dietrich and Huffman both didn’t make the 11 rider Main event. This would normally seem slightly out of reach, but looking at the pre-entry list… well, it could happen!

The talented fields of racers include 10-time US Trials Champ, Christini/KTM/BTOsports.com’s Geoff Aaron, as well as Lucas Oil/KTM’s young gun, Colton Haaker, Canada ’s Bobby Prachnau, Off-Road legend, Ty Davis and his Zip Ty Suzuki Racing teammate, Nick Brozovich. Making things even more interesting, also slated to compete are three of Red Bull KTM’s big guns: recent GNCC winner Nathan Kanney , USA’s ISDE captain, Kurt Caselli and recent off-road convert, Mike Brown, who nearly made the podium at the last EnduroCross in Ohio. Also, it is rumored that a couple motocross racing legends are gearing up to give EnduroCross a shot and possibly a few European hotshots!

“With a field this stacked nothing can be taken for granted,” exclaims EnduroCross boss, Eric Peronnard. “This year’s Vegas Finals is shaping up to be the greatest EnduroCross yet!”

EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of Off-Road racing into a supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole… and even a few special obstacles like giant tires! Known as the “toughest racing on two wheels,” this indoor version of extreme off-road racing will keep you on your feet! The series, presented by Lucas Oil Products, will be captured by the Versus Network, to be aired on the popular grassroots racing program, the Lucas Motorsports Hour. With its excitement and unpredictability, the series championship has come down to the wire and looks to be an amazing event in Las Vegas! Don’t miss your chance to see AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross and be sure to log-on to www.motorsportshour.com for local airing dates/times for the Lucas Motorsports Hour.
