Monster Energy Kawasaki's Watkins Rides to Fourth-Place Finish at Snowshoe

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Scott Watkins returned from the GNCC two-month summer break to earn fourth in the XC2 class during the tenth round at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, W. Va. He also finished just outside the top-10 overall with a notable 12th. Teammate Andrew Matusek finished the XC2 class in 14th.

Fast Track

After finishing sixth at the last round in July, Watkins wanted to make a run for the podium. He was running a good pace and eventually came across the finish line just outside the podium.

“It was hard to know where you were placing,” said Watkins. “The pits were quite far from the finish line so I just tried to ride as hard as I could to make my way to the front. This start was a little different since it was live engine on pavement. The track was little different from last year but had some decent tough sections. I tried to play it smart since the track was falling apart toward the end.”

Nice Resort

The round at Snowshoe Mountain Resort is arguably the nicest venue that the series comes across. The resort is completely taken over by the series with spectators viewing the race from chair lifts and riders making their way around the huge complex.
